For their 9th consecutive year, Unifor Local 1285 hosted the Canadian Pavilion for Carabram 2015. Brampton’s Multicultural Friendship Festival ran from Friday, July 10th through Sunday, July 12th. The three-day festival promotes appreciation, education, and above all acceptance, of the number of cultures in our communities. Guests purchased passports containing the various locations of the culture pavilions around the city – including Africa, Portugal, Hawaii, Ireland, Philippines, Macedonia, South Asia and Eelam.
Local 1285 kicked off Friday night with a patriotic Colour Party ceremony and a beautiful rendition of ‘O Canada’. The Main Hall was packed with guests of all ages, excited to make their way around the various vendors, live entertainment and delicious Canadian food! Friday’s special menu item was a mouth-watering “Cowboy Steak and Baked Potato” dish.
The family festivities continued right through to Sunday night, with performances by “River Road Cloggers”, “Back Bacon Band”, Aboriginal Drummers and line dancing by “Rock N Country Entertainment”. Guests were also given the opportunity to be sworn in as honorary “Newfies”, through a special screeching-in ceremony. The kids enjoyed a giant jumping castle and rock climbing wall, “Great Rocky Mountain Way”.
Unifor Local 1285 would like to thank all the wonderful volunteers for generously donating their time and bringing the Canadian Pavilion to life. Special recognition goes to the sponsors who made it possible to host such talented Canadian entertainment.
